TRIBAL FUSION BELLYDANCE
UNMATA's Improvisational Tribal Style (ITS) format is taking the world by storm. Developed at Hot Pot Studios in Sacramento, California by UNMATA director Amy Sigil, the format now has certified teachers worldwide.
In addition to her weekly classes in ITS, Alexis also
teaches Level 1 and 2 weekend immersions in
Wolverhampton several times per year, giving distance
learners the opportunity to study the style on an
Next Level 1 Immersion: TBC
Next Level 2 Immersion: TBC
This Level 2 Immersion will see you covering the first half of the Level 2 ITS syllabus in one weekend - that's around 8 weeks' worth of regular class time information (out of 15 weeks). To participate in this immersion, you must have a sound working knowledge of ITS Level 1, ideally having passed a Level 1 test with a certified ITS teacher.
The immersion will teach Level 2 as it is taught in a weekly class environment, and will focus on cleaning up technique and timing in both the fast and slow vocabularies of movement, as well as introducing concepts such as the Magic V, stagger, circle and chorus line formations.
It is highly recommended to bring water and snacks for fuel, and a notebook for writing down those details.
Need a Level 1 recap or to take your Level 1 ITS test before a Level 2 Immersion? Check out Alexis' weekly class options or get in touch regarding private lessons and testing! Please note that testing qualifies you only to move up a level as a student, and not to teach ITS.
This Level 1 Immersion will see you covering the entirety of the Level 1 ITS syllabus in one weekend. This is especially ideal for anyone that has previously studied Level 1 and looking to clean up their technique and vocab, but is also open to complete ITS beginners.
ITS is a challenging and fun workout, enabling you and your friends to create seamless group improv on the fly, that looks like choreography. The immersion will teach Level 1 as it is taught in a weekly class environment, and will focus on cleaning up technique and timing in both the fast and slow vocabularies of movement.
This intensive is absolutely open to complete beginners in ITS. It is a lot of information to absorb in one weekend, but if you enjoy challenging your body and mind then this is definitely the class for you! It is highly recommended to bring water and snacks for fuel, and a notebook for writing down those details.
Alexis is a Level 4 certified teacher of UNMATA's ITS format - one of only two in the UK, teaching ITS since 2013. She re-took her Level 1&2 training in 2016, and has performed numerous times with UNMATA around the world (including at Tribal Revolution, Gothla UK, Tribal Fest, Infusion Emporium, Tribal Fusion Express, Zoe Jakes' House of Tarot....) so you can be sure that you are in good hands!
