Alexis Southall is a professional Tribal Fusion Bellydance performer and teacher based in Wolverhampton, England. She is known for her deep curves, seamless flow, and for catching the music with speedy precise accents.
Alexis is a sought after instructor and performer, currently travelling the UK and Europe sharing her knowledge of the dance and performing for enraptured audiences. She also teaches weekly Tribal Fusion bellydance classes in Wolverhampton. She is known for her generous, warm and inspirational teaching style, and has been praised for her precise technique, flawless musicality and innovative choreographies and improvisations.
Over the past 20 years she has studied various forms of dance. She discovered Tribal Fusion bellydance in 2006 and has since dedicated herself to learning this artform. She has travelled all over the world to study with the best instructors in the genre, most frequently training with Samantha Emanuel, Zoe Jakes, Kami Liddle, Amy Sigil and Olivia Kissel, whose teachings have influenced her the most deeply.
Alexis is also an event sponsor - her first event 'Bellydance Vaudeville' was hugely popular, leading her to create and produce the annual event Infusion Emporium. She has hosted some of the biggest names in Tribal Fusion including Samantha Emanuel, Manca Pavli, Deb Rubin, April Rose and Illan Riviere. She is also a member of the organising committee for Gothla UK.
As well as her solo work, Alexis is a firm believer in the value of collaboration. She has performed duet works with Martina Crowe-Hewett (CA/DE), Yahna (EST) and Bex (UK), and has recently become a member of Ambrosia Dance Company (SLO) after a stint as guest dancer this summer. She has also had the honour of being a guest dancer for Olivia Kissel's HYBRID Dance Project in The Netherlands in 2011, and Deb Rubin's Project Merkaba in the UK in 2012.
Alexis is a professional member of the Foundation for Community Dance, is a fully insured teacher and performer, and in 2011 completed the General Skills for American Tribal Style® Belly Dance certificate with FatChanceBellyDance. She recently became certified in Suhaila Salimpour Format Level 1 (Dec 2012).
With new projects and her dance continuing to evolve Alexis is excited to see what the future holds, and hopes to dance with you soon.
